Rise Against - Entertainment

Song: Entertainment
Artist: Rise Against
Album: Appeal To Reason

Rise Against is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois.

I think the song Entertainment is mostly about hollywood and shallow fame. It's about how people worship celebrity, watching the every move of stars, wanting/wishing to be like them and letting their own lives be consumed by something that's not even real. Some people will worship famous people to the point of obsession. I think it's about how in a lot of cases "musicians" and other "celebrities" care way more about making money than about creating something of quality and substance. How sometimes what's sold to people is a product posing as art instead of actual art. How people will strive to be this idea of  perfection that is completely fake (though I find perfection usually is fake and something to be wary of). People that hide their flaws have the worst flaws, if someone/something seems too good to be true they probably are. Just look at the annoying auto-tuned shit that passes for "music". All n' all I think this song is excellent, it's very thought-provoking and very true.

"Entertainment"

All we are is entertainment
Caught up in our own derangement
Tell us what to say and what to do
All we are are pretty faces
Picture perfect bottled rage
Packaged synthesized versions of you

We've all made petty fortunes but we can't afford a life
Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms
They all scream California and its toppling empire
But can't you see the end is coming soon

Come one come all the new sensation
Guarantees then obligations
Spotlights follow every single move
Basking here on ten foot stages
Pouty lips and oh so jaded
All as if we have something to prove

Despite these petty fortunes we still can't afford a life
Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms
They all scream California and its toppling empire
But can't you see the end is here

And if we cared at all
About this unknown plight
Then we'd do something more
To finally make this right

Is this only entertainment
Pull the curtains, places please
We've learned to sing and dance and cry on cue
But this is more than entertainment
In a world so sick with pain
This is the only thing that's real or true

We've all made petty fortunes but we can't afford a life
Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms
They all scream bloody murder over graves already dug
But can't you see the end

John Lennon - Working Class Hero (Explicit Lyrics)

Song: Working Class Hero
Artist: John Lennon
Album: John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band

Thirty years ago this day (December 8th) John Lennon died. The song Working Class Hero is one my favorite songs. I have the original John Lennon song and some covers. The song is about capitalism and the society that we live within. I think it’s also about the way our lives are so often controlled. It’s about how the upper class relies on labour and would be totally screwed without the working class, but the upper class still looks down on the working class and treats them with disrespect. This is an extremely powerful song. I really love the lyric “they hate you if you’re clever, and they despise a fool”. John Lennon was shot and killed by a deranged fan on December 8th 1980.

"Working Class Hero"

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
by giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
Working Class Hero is something to be
Working Class Hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
Working Class Hero is something to be
Working Class Hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for 20 odd years
then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
Working Class Hero is something to be
Working Class Hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religon, sex and T.V.
and you think you're so clever and classless and free
but you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see
Working Class Hero is something to be
Working Class Hero is something to be

There's room at the top I'm telling you still
but first you must learn how to smile as you kill
if you want to be like the folks on the hill
Working Class Hero is something to be

Yes , A Working Class Hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

Muse - Resistance

Song: Resistance
Artist: Muse
Album: The Resistance

Muse is a rock band from England.

I first got into Muse when I heard Uprising the first single off of The Resistance playing at a record store. I liked what I heard so I bought the album. I think the song Resistance is about love being the only true thing that two people can depend on in a world full of corruption and greed. The whole album seems to contain themes of government corruption and conspiracies. Muse lead singer Matthew Bellamy draws much inspiration from George Orwells book 1984 in the making of this album. This song can also be interpreted as being about any real love that is discouraged or condemned by someone. However you want to look at it, I think this is an amazing song.

"Resistance"

Is our secret safe tonight
And are we out of sight
Or will our world come tumbling down?
Will they find our hiding place
Is this our last embrace
Or will the walls start caving in?

(It could be wrong, could be wrong) But it should have been right
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) To let our hearts ignite
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) Are we digging a hole?
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) This is out of control

(It could be wrong, could be wrong) It can never last
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) Must erase it fast
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) But it could have been right
(It could be wrong, could be...)

Love is our resistance
They'll keep us apart and they won't to stop breaking us down
Hold me
Our lips must always be sealed

If we live a life in fear
I'll wait a thousand years
Just to see you smile again

Kill your prayers for love and peace
You'll wake the thought police
We can't hide the truth inside

The night has reached its end
We can't pretend
We must run
We must run
It's time to run
Take us away from here
Protect us from further harm

Hedley - Narcissist

Song: Narcissist
Artist: Hedley
Album: Famous Last Words

Hedley is a Canadian pop/rock band from British Columbia.

I started listening to Hedley because it's Jacob Hoggard's band. Jacob Hoggard came in third on the second season of Canadian Idol, and to be honest that season of Canadian Idol and the Adam Lambert season of American Idol were the only seasons of either idol that I found worth watching. The song Narcissist is about......well people being narcissistic. I think the song is about how so many people think only of themselves and believe that physical appearance is the most important thing. I think North American society also encourages this attitude a lot of the time. I really, really like this song.

"Narcissist"

The has been high school hero
He's first in line in his whole mind and doesn't care about the rest
A handsome half wit zero
He'll be your friend until the end if you're the coolest and the best

He falls in love with his reflection in the glass
He can't resist who's staring back

He makes a case
That all you've ever needed is a pretty face
But the bottom line about it is a 'never was' is all he'll ever be
He can't resist the paranoid delusions of a narcissist
It doesn't matter anyways cause he's a self fulfilling prophesy
Of make believe

She's a suburban princess
She's had it all since she was small and sucking on a silver spoon
Another gold card purchase
This daddy's girl thinks the whole world revolves around her like the moon

Each day's a film premiere where all the boys will stare
She pretends she doesn't care

She makes a case
That all you've ever needed is a pretty face
But the bottom line about it is a 'never was' is all she'll ever be
She can't resist the paranoid delusions of a narcissist
It doesn't matter anyways cause she's a self fulfilling prophesy
Of make believe
Of make believe
Of make believe

And on the day he met her
The high pretension of their love connection all but sealed the deal
Happily ever after who better for each other than another candidate to

Make a case
That all they've ever needed is a pretty face
But the bottom line about it is a 'never was' is all they'll ever be
They can't resist the paranoid delusions of a narcissist
But they're together anyways and share their self obsessed reality
We can't resist the paranoid delusions of a narcissist
It doesn't matter anyway cause we're a self fulfilling prophecies
Of make believe
Of make believe
Of make believe
Of make believe

Sum 41 - We're All To Blame

Song: We're All To Blame
Artist: Sum 41
Album: Chuck

Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ontario.

I don't really remember how I got into Sum 41, I've been listening to them for a long time. I think the song We're All To Blame is about the state of society. About how a lot of humans are greedy and will do horrible things in the pursuit of money and power. How people often care more about money, stuff and power than other people. It's a very thought provoking song. I love this song.

"We're All To Blame"

Take everything left from me
All!
To!
Blame!

How can we still succeed, taking what we don't need?
Telling lies as alibis, selling all the hate that we breed.
Supersize our tragedies! (You can't define me or justify greed)
Bought in the land of the free! (Land! Free!)

And we're all to blame,
We've gone too far,
From pride to shame,
We're trying so hard,
We're dying in vain,
We're hopelessly blissful and blind
To all we are,
We want it all with no sacrifice!

Realize we spend our lives living in a culture of fear.
Stand to salute; say thanks to the man of the year.
How did we all come to this? (You can't define me or justify greed)
This greed that we just can't resist! (Resist!)

And we're all to blame,
We've gone too far,
From pride to shame,
We're trying so hard,
We're dying in vain,
We're hopelessly blissful and blind
To all we are,
We want it all.
Everyone wants it all with no sacrifice!

Tell me now, what have we done? We don't know.
I can't allow what has begun to tear me down,
Believe me now, we have no choice left with our
Backs against the wall!

And now we're all to blame,
We've gone too far,
From pride to shame,
We're hopelessly blissful and blind
When all we need
Is something true
To believe,
Don't we all?
Everyone, everyone,
We will fall.

'Cause we're all to blame
We've gone too far,
From pride to shame,
We're trying so hard,
We're dying in vain,
We want it all,
Everyone, don't we all?

Sick Puppies - Odd One

Song: Odd One
Artist: Sick Puppies
Album: Tri-Polar

Sick Puppies is an Australian rock band.

I first got into Sick Puppies when I heard Odd One, the band's second single from their album Tri-Polar on the radio. Odd One is about being the odd one out. It's about feeling weird because you act, dress or talk different than the people around or you like different movies, tv or music than them, and that, that's ok. Sick Puppies lead singer Shimon Moore said in a interview about the song "Every person, every single person feels a different type of strange". It's a song that most people can probably identify with at one point or another in there life. I really like this song.

"Odd One"

Odd one, you're never alone
I'm here and I will reflect you
Both of us basically unattached
To anything or anyone unless we're pretending
You live your life in your head
Some call it imagination
I'd rather focus instead on anything except
What I'm feeling
What I'm feeling
Odd one...

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, we're gonna laugh at this one day

Odd one, I wish I was you
You're never concerned with acceptance
We are all desperately seeking out,
And fitting in with anyone
Who will accept us
But not you, odd one

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, we're gonna laugh at this one day

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, gonna laugh at this one day

Hey, it's gonna be okay
Hey, we're gonna laugh at this one day

Don't let someone tell you you're no-one
Don't let someone tell you you're no-one
Odd one...

Flobots - Handlebars

Song: Handlebars
Artist: Flobots
Album: Fight With Tools

Flobots is an American rock/rap/hip hop band from Colorado.

I first got into Flobots when I heard handlebars on a radio show podcast. The song is about how humans will work endlessly to create new military applications, but when we need people to do some good it's not taken as seriously. How people see no limits when it comes to increasing our destructive power, but when it comes to to doing some good like ending world hunger or creating peace we'll write it off as impossible. The song begins with someone bragging about relatively innocent things he can do, like riding a bike with no handlebars, knowing the words to a song and being able to "tie a knot in a cherry stem", gradually the things he's bragging about get more serious, like "I can design an engine 64 miles to the gallon of gasoline" and eventually become scary and sinister like "have 'em all healed from their lacerations or have em all killed by assassination" at the end of the song he goes back to saying "I can ride my bike with no handlebars".

"Handlebars"

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars
I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Look at me Look at me
Hands in the air like its good to be
Alive and I'm a famous rapper
Even when the paths are all crookedy
I can show you how to dosey doe
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And i can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to De Colores
And I'm proud to be an American
Me and my friends saw a platypus
Me and my friends made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want 'Cause

Look

I can keep rhythm with no metronome
No metronome
No metronome
I can see you face on the telephone
On the telephone
On the telephone

Look at me look at me
Just called to say that its good to be
Alive in such a small world
I'm all curled up with a book to read
I can make money open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine
64 miles to the gallon on gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic
Conditions I know how to run the business
And i can make you wanna buy a product
Movers shakers and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no resistance 'Cause

I can lead a nation with a microphone
With a microphone
With a microphone
And I can split the atoms of a molecule
Of a molecule
Of a molecule

Look at me Look at me
Driving and I won't stop
And it feels so good to be alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can handout a million vaccinations
Or let em all die from exasperations
Have 'em all healed from their lacerations
Or have em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like 'em
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command because

I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
And I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope

And I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars
I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Billy Talent - Devil In A Midnight Mass

Song: Devil In A Midnight Mass
Artist: Billy Talent
Album: Billy Talent II

Billy Talent is a Canadian rock band from Ontario.

I first got into Billy Talent while on a road trip with my family. Their song Fallen Leaves came on the radio, I liked it so I downloaded it and a few other songs. Some time later I saw the music video for Devil In A Midnight Mass on tv. I was impressed with the video. The song is about a priest who molested a bunch of kids and was later murdered in prison. The music video shows a young boy in a church being chased by black smoke, which represents the priest, alternately showing the band performing the song in the same church. The boy runs into the part of the church where the band was playing, but instead of the band its filled with altar boys who have no mouths, the original boys mouth is now also gone. This represents that they have been silenced by the priest, this goes with the line "silent night for the rest of my life". In a demo of the song instead of "silent night for the rest of my life" the lyric was "I was told that the world wouldn't believe me". The song speaks out about and against abuse towards children especially by people in positions of authority. It`s about something very evil that happens and definitely should not.

"Devil In A Midnight Mass"

A devil in a midnight mass,
He prayed behind stained glass
A memory of Sunday class
Resurrected from the past

Hold your breath and count to four
Pinky swears don't work no more
Footsteps down the hallway floor
Getting closer to my door
I was alive but now I'm singing

Silent night for the rest of my life
Silent night for the rest of my life
Violent knight at the edge of your knife
Forgive me Father... won't make it right
Silent night for the rest of my life
Silent night at the edge of your knife
(You're guilty!)

A devil in a midnight mass,
killed the boy inside the man.
The holy water in his hands
Can never wash away his sins

Hold your breath and count to four
Pinky swears don't work no more
Put my trust in God that day
Not the man that taught his way
I was alive but now I'm singing
Silent night for the rest of my life
Silent night for the rest of my life
Violent knight at the edge of your knife
Forgive me Father... won't make it right
Silent night for the rest of my life
Silent night at the edge of your knife
(You're guilty!)

[Whispered]
Whisper, whisper, don't make a sound.
Your bed is made and it's in the ground [x2]

[Screamed]
Whisper, whisper, don't make a sound.
Your bed is made and it's in the ground [x4]

Dead By Sunrise - Crawl Back In

Song: Crawl Back In
Artist: Dead By Sunrise
Album: Out Of Ashes

Dead By Sunrise is an American rock band.

I guess I should start by telling you that Dead By Sunrise is the side project of Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington. I first heard the song Crawl Back In on the radio, I liked the song and I thought the singers voice sounded familiar, but I'd never heard of Dead By Sunrise. About a month later I watched a podcast interview with Chester Bennington and he was talking about Dead By Sunrise. Apparently he had written a bunch of songs he didn't think were right for Linkin Park, so he and some friends decided to record them and eventually became Dead By Sunrise. After I remembered the song and realized Chester was singing it, I downloaded it. I think the song is about wanting to get away from the bad stuff in your life, wanting to hide away from it all. About not wanting to be the person others see you as, or try to make you into. Maybe also about not wanting to be like the people around you to fit in, because it might be easier but it's not real.

"Crawl Back In"

Sometimes I look at my own face
And I don't know who I am
I see a piece of everyone I know
Buried underneath my skin

I don't want to be like them
I want to crawl back in

It's hard to think of anything that I haven't heard before
I hear these voices in my head
They could be mine but I'm not sure
I hear them telling me who they think I should be
Why won't they leave me alone
I can't deny it I try to fight it
But I'm losing control

I don't want to be like them
I want to crawl back in

Don't want to lose my innocence
Don't want the world second guessing at my heart
Won't let your lies take a piece of my soul
Don't want to take your medicine
I want to crawl back in

Sometimes I lie
Sometimes I crawl
Sometimes I feel like I want to die

I don't want to be like them
I want to crawl back in

Don't want to lose my innocence
Don't want the world second guessing at my heart
Won't let your lies take a piece of my soul
Don't want to take your medicine
I want to crawl back in

I want to crawl back in

AFI - Beautiful Thieves

Song: Beautiful Thieves
Artist: AFI
Album: Crash Love

AFI (which stands for "A Fire Inside" just in case you were wondering) is an American rock band from California.

I think the song Beautiful Thieves is about fame. The lyrics seems to be about how famous people can get away with more than other people. About how some celebrities can do all kinds of illegal shit and get away with it, when any normal unfamous person would be in deep trouble if they did the same thing. And maybe even about how people worship celebrities to a disturbing point, blindly following something we don't truly know.

"Beautiful Thieves"

My dear there is no danger
Can't you see they turn blind eyes
To we swift and spotlit strangers?
Oh before the rush is over
We will be revered again
While the victims still recover

Oh!
If we run this light
Take a little life
No one will care at all
Oh!
We can burn it and leave
For we are the beautiful Thieves
No one suspects at all
No one suspects

Ah

Oh,
Are we running toward death?
I have met him times before
He adores us like the rest
Oh even if we're discovered
Just be sure to wear your best
We will surely make the covers

Oh!
If we run this light
Take a little life
No one will care at all
Oh!
We can burn it and leave
For we are the beautiful thieves
No one suspects at all
No one suspects

Who would run for cover?
Who would run from us?
Who would run for cover?
Who would run from us?

Oh!
If we run this light
Take a little life
No one will care at all
Oh!
We can burn it and leave
For we are the beautiful thieves
No one suspects at all
No one suspects at all
If we run this light
Take a little life
No one will care at all
Oh!
We can burn it and leave
For we are the beautiful thieves
No one suspects at all
No one suspects

Cage The Elephant - In One Ear (Explicit Lyrics)

Song: In One Ear
Artist: Cage The Elephant
Album: Cage The Elephant

Cage The Elephant is an American rock band from Kentucky.

I liked this song when I heard it on the radio, so I downloaded it. Lyrically I think the song is about people who don't listen to the meaning of a song. They'll listen to anything if they like the beat and don't care what it means or the meaning goes over their head. I think it's also about people who criticize bands without knowing them or really listening to them. They'll say a band sucks based on the way they dress, where they come from, who their friends are...... instead of actually listening to their music and deciding based on that if they like them. A lot of people don't think about the meaning of what they listen to anymore. I love this song!

"In One Ear"

They say we ain't got the style
We ain't got the class
We ain't got the tunes that's
Gonna put us on the map
And I'm a phony in disguise
Tryin' to make the radio
I'm an anti-social anarchist
I sound like so and so

They say I'm just a stupid kid
Another crazy radical
Rock'n'roll is dead
I probably should have stayed in school
Another generation X
Who somehow slipped up through the cracks
Oh they'd love to see me fall
But I'm already on my back

So it goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit but you know I never bother
It goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit, they can kiss the back of my hand

Now I know I'm not a saint
I've been a sinner all my life
I ain't tryin' to hide my flaws
I'd rather keep them in the light
They want to criticize, scrutinize
Cast another stone
Burn me at the stake
And sit and watch it from their throne

They say the devil is my pal
I do alot of drugs
The crowd will only like me
If they're really fuckin drunk
They think they know my thoughts
But they don't know the least
If they'd listen to the words
They'd find a message tucked beneath

So it goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit but you know I never bother
It goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit, they can kiss the back of my hand

you hear that? you hear what's comin'?
Oh you better run for the hills, Cause were comin' to your town.
and we're gonna burn that motherfucker down

Here's the moral to the story
We don't do it for the glory
We don't do it for the money
We don't do it for the fame
So all the critics who despise us
Go ahead and criticize us
It's your tyranny that drives us
Adds the fire to our flames

and it goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit but you know I never bother
It goes in one ear and right out the other

I'm only playing music cause you know I fuckin' love it

it goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit but you know I never bother
It goes in one ear and right out the other
People talking shit, they can kiss the back of my hand

Papa Roach - Had Enough

Song: Had Enough
Artist: Papa Roach
Album: Metamorphosis

Papa Roach is an American rock band from California.

I like a lot of songs by Papa Roach. I definitely like the lyrical meaning of this song. It's about living in a world full of unneccessary violence. Lead singer Jacoby Shaddix said in an interview about the song that the news is really depressing. I think that's where this song comes from. There is too much violence for no reason in the world. I love this song's message.

"Had Enough"

Turn the channel on the tv
Another boy shot tonight
I can't believe what I am seeing
A body bag, a mother cries
It seems like this is never ending
I've had enough so I decide
The time has come for me to face it
I can't refuse the war inside

'Cause we have had enough
All the violence has touched every part of our lives
Our innocence is gone tonight

I dunnno if I can hide it
I know the truth it's only lies
The president will deny it
The body count, a steady rise
In my head there is a riot
Change the world, no one dies
The time has come for us to fight it
You can't refuse the war inside

'Cause we have had enough
All the violence has touched every part of our lives
Our innocence is gone tonight

'Cause we have had enough
All the violence has touched every part of our lives
Our innocence is gone tonight

I know that you can change the future
I know that we can make it happen

In my head there is a riot
and i dont think that I can fight it

'Cause we have had enough
All the violence has touched every part of our lives
Our innocence is gone tonight

'Cause we have had enough
All the violence has touched every part of our lives
Our innocence is gone tonight

We have had enough
We have had enough
We have had enough

Simple Plan - Untitled

Song: Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?)
Artist: Simple Plan
Album: Still Not Gettin' Any...

Simple Plan is a Canadian Pop/Rock band from Montreal, Quebec.

I first heard Simple Plan on the radio. I liked the songs I heard so I downloaded some. Among them was Untitled. The song is about and against drinking and driving. The music video starts at the scene of a car accident. Paramedics and firefighters remove a badly injured young woman from a wrecked car. Scenes of what are presumably the girl's family at home and work are also shown, as well as shots of Simple Plan lead singer Pierre Bouvier singing the song. They flash back and show the driver of the car that hit the girl's car drinking alcohol while behind the wheel of his car, and the two cars crashing. As the two cars collide they show the girl's family being thrown into furniture and walls. I think the meaning of this is that drinking and driving doesn't just hurt one person, it tears a lot of people apart. They then show doctors and nurses at the hospital trying to save the girl. Meanwhile the drunk driver is given a breathylizer and arrested. At the end of the video they put the phone number and website of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) on the screen. I think that the don't drink and drive message in the song and video is great.

"Untitled"

I open my eyes
I try to see but I’m blinded by the white light
I can’t remember how
I can’t remember why
I’m lying here tonight

And I can’t stand the pain
And I can’t make it go away
No I can’t stand the pain

How could this happen to me
I made my mistakes
I’ve got no where to run
The night goes on
As I’m fading away
I’m sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

Everybody’s screaming
I try to make a sound but no one hears me
I’m slipping off the edge
I’m hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again

So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered
And I can’t explain what happened
And I can’t erase the things that I’ve done
No I can’t

How could this happen to me
I made my mistakes
I’ve got no where to run
The night goes on
As I’m fading away
I’m sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

I made my mistakes
I’ve got no where to run
The night goes on
As I’m fading away
I’m sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

Madina Lake - Never Take Us Alive

Song: Never Take Us Alive
Artist: Madina Lake
Album: Attics To Eden

Madina Lake is an American rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois.

I first heard of Madina Lake on the internet. I didn't have a clue who they were but I decided to check them out. I downloaded a few songs and quickly became a fan. One of my favorite Madina Lake songs is Never Take Us Alive. I think the song is about being different from what's considered the norm and that it's ok.  If people want to look down on you because of it that's their problem. I really love the lyric "Cause people they'll tear you apart, If you are not like them. And we are different. Let the war begin". I also enjoyed the music video, when I showed it to my Mom she looked at the lead singer and bass player (who are identical twins) and said "There are two of that guy, right?".

"Never Take Us Alive"

Sometimes I feel like I'm from another world,
And everything I want in life seems impossible.
Cause people they'll tear you apart.
But in the bottom of our hearts,
The dream's alive inside.
And we won't forget...

So we say...

You can't break, can't change, can't take us down.
(We run this town)
We'll stand, we'll fight, set fires all night.
(You'll never take us alive...)
Wa oh oh oh oh oh...
Wa oh oh oh oh oh...
(You'll never take us alive...)
Wa oh oh oh oh oh...
Wa oh oh ohhhhh...
(You'll never take us alive...)

For the last time I'll give myself to the enemy,
By letting their words just walk all over me.
Cause people they'll tear you apart,
If you are not like them.
And we are different.
Let the war begin.

There's no fear inside.
This is our time, no giving up.
When we connect our hearts, to our minds,
There's no stopping us.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down

Song: Face Down
Artist: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Album: Don't You Fake It

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is an American rock band from Florida.

A couple of years ago I was given a mix cd with this song on it. I had never heard of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus before but I liked the song, particularly the lyrics, which speak out against domestic abuse. I was also impressed with the music video. The video shows a young woman walking around her home collecting letters, pictures and other stuff, while furniture and other items are thrown and smashed as though by an invisible person. While this is going on shots of the band performing the song are also shown. At the end of the video the woman throws the letters, pictures and other memorabilia of her abusive partner in the garbage. I love the song and the message within the lyrics.

"Face Down"

Hey, girl, you know you drive me crazy
one look puts the rhythm in my hand.
Still I'll never understand why you hang around
I see what's going down.

Cover up with makeup in the mirror
tell yourself, it's never gonna happen again
You cry alone and then he swears he loves you.

Do you feel like a man when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
as your lies crumble down, a new life she has found.

A pebble in the water makes a ripple effect
every action in this world will bear a consequence
If you wade around forever, you will surely drown
I see what's going down.

I see the way you go and say you're right again,
say you're right again
Heed my lecture.

Do you feel like a man when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
as your lies crumble down, a new life she has...

One day she will tell you that she has had enough
It's coming round again

Do you feel like a man when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
as your lies crumble down, a new life she has...

Face down in the dirt, she said,
"This doesn't hurt", she said,
"I finally had enough."

Rise Against - Blood-Red, White and Blue

Song: Blood-Red, White and Blue
Artist: Rise Against
Album: Revolutions Per Minute

Rise Against is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois.

I first got into Rise Against when I was given a free download. I loved the punk/hardrock sound and the lyrics of the music. I purchased more of their music including the album Revolutions Per Minute. My favorite song off Revolutions Per Minute is Blood-Red, White and Blue. To me the song seems to be about the Bush administration and against war. The lyric "So pride yourself on what you are" reminded me of Bush saying that he would disown his daughters if they were gay. The song seems to say that Apathy will get us nowhere and that we shouldn't sit by and do nothing when something needs to be done.

"Real revolution starts at learning. If you're not angry then you are not paying attention." - Taken from inside the album cover of Revolutions Per Minute.

"Blood-Red, White, And Blue"

So come test me, so come break me
So come on intoxicate me
With hands tied behind my back I fight
And wait for you to strike

A new problem we cannot stop them
We're outnumbered and uncautioned
A rally cry rings out into the night

So pride yourself on what you are
And hold them all to words they can't take back
I've seen a place (it comes) to me in dreams
Where fires die but light still shines for us to see

What did you have to say?
Give me your logic, your definition
The words you twist to justify your position
Of mass starvation and blind airstrikes
Every problem is solved with a fight

Peace won't be found
Till we're underground
As long as we live without a sound

So pride yourself on what you are
And hold them all to words they can't take back
I've seen a place (it comes) to me in dreams
Where fires die but light still shines for us to see

Would God bless a murder of the innocents?
Would God bless a war based on pride?
Would God bless a money-hungry government? Noooo!

Would God bless our ineffective court system?
God bless the sweatshops we run.
God bless America?
God bless America? (Noooo)

Three Days Grace - Bully

Song: Bully
Artist: Three Days Grace
Album: Life Starts Now

Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I bought Three Days Grace's latest album Life Starts Now as a total impulse buy at a record store while I was out of town. I had songs off  both of their previous albums on my iPod, which I liked alot but I hadn't listened to in awhile. When I played the CD I liked almost every song and it reminded me how much I like Three Days Grace and I started listening to their previous albums more too. A few tracks on Life Starts Now stood out to me, one of them was Bully. The song tells of kids who are being bullied. The song starts with the sounds of a schoolyard fight and and quickly moves into the hardrock music Three Days Grace is known for, then Adam Gontier starts singing the lyrics which tell a story of two people being bullied one male and one female. But the way the lyrics are written the song could be about almost anyone who is being bullied. The song speaks out against bullying and paints a picture of what bullies do to their victims mentally and emotionally. Adam Gontier, the lead singer of Three Days Grace, said in an interview that he was on both sides, at one point a bully, at one point bullied, and that people don't always realize how much what they say hurts other people. In short I love the song and the message within the song.

"Bully"

He wakes up haunted
With voices in his head
Nobody knows it but today
He won't go unnoticed
He can't forget
Can't forgive
For what they said
He's never been
So hurt but
Today the screaming
Is over

Blame the family
Blame the bully
Blame it on me
Maybe he needed to be wanted
Blame the family
Blame the bully
Blame it on me
Maybe he needed to be wanted

She takes the long way home
Fighting her emotions
She's a loner but tonight
She won't go unnoticed
If she can't remember when
She loses her temper
Nobody knows her but tonight
The silence is over

Blame the family
Blame the bully
Blame it on me
Maybe she needed to be wanted
Blame the family
Blame the bully
Blame it on me
Maybe she needed to be wanted

Blame the family
Blame the bully
Blame it on me
Maybe they needed to be wanted
Blame the family
Blame the bully
Blame it on me
Maybe they needed
To be wanted
