Apocalyptica - I'm Not Jesus

Song: I'm Not Jesus
Artist: Apocalyptica (Feat. Corey Taylor)
Album: Worlds Collide

Apocalyptica is a Finnish metal band from Helsinki, Finland.

I'm Not Jesus is a single from Apocalyptica's sixth studio album, Worlds Collide, which was released in 2007. As I've said before on other posts about Apocalyptica songs, they have no lead singer and most of their music does not have lyrics. The songs that do have lyrics are sung by guest singers. I'm Not Jesus is sung by Corey Taylor, who is the lead singer of both Slipknot (an American metal band from Des Moines, Iowa) and Stone Sour (an American rock band also from Des Moines, Iowa). The song I'm Not Jesus is sung from the perspective of someone sexually abused as a child by a priest. The song is confrontational toward the priest. Corey is a very good singer of metal and rock. His voice fits this song perfectly. As I've said before I love Apocalyptica's mixture of metal and classical music. This song is loud, angry and the lyrics speak of something truly terrible. I think the song should make people think about what has happened and how we shouldn't let people get away with such abuse just because they are in a position of authority

"I'm Not Jesus"

Dirty little secret
Dirty little lies
Say your prayers and comb your hair
Save your soul tonight

Drift among the faithful
Bury your desires
Aberrations fill your head
You need a place to hide
And I am

Do you remember me?
And the kid I used to be?
Do you remember me?

[Chorus:]
When your world's come crashing down
I want to be there.
Your god is looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus,
Jesus wasn't there!

You could confess it all away,
But it's only shit to me
Your god ain't looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus,
I will not forgive!

No I won't! [2x]

I've thought you were a good man,
I've thought you talked to god.
Your hippocratic, messianic, child abusing, turned satanic.

Do you remember me?
Do you remember me?
And the kid I used to be?
Do you remember?
Do you remember?

[Chorus:]
When your own world comes undone,
Let me be the one to say:
I'm not Jesus,
You can't run away!

And the innocence you spoil
Find a way to live
Your god is looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus
I will not forgive!

I won't forgive.
I won't be whatever you want to.
[2x]

Do you remember me?
And the kid I used to be?
Not the same as I used to be!
Oh, do you remember me?

No!

[Chorus:]
When your world's come crashing down,
I want to be there
Your god is looking down on me
I'm not Jesus
Jesus wasn't there!

You could confess it all away,
But it's only shit to me!
Your god is looking down on me!
I'm not Jesus,
I will not,
I'm not Jesus,
I will not forgive!

Oh, I will not forgive, yeah yeah!
No, I will not forgive!

Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become

Song: Animal I Have Become
Artist: Three Days Grace
Album: One X

Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band based in Toronto, Ontario.

Animal I Have Become is the first single from Three Days Grace' second studio album One X. The album was released June 13th 2006. The song's lyrics were written by lead vocalist Adam Gontier while he was in CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) for an addiction to the prescription painkiller OxyContin. I think the song is about his addiction and how he felt because of it. About how he became something he didn't want to be. The song is energetic, hard rock, and I really love it. The video shows Adam in bed appearing to have nightmares/hallucinations. It also shows him walking around, looking into mirrors and seeing himself as a monster, alternating with the band playing in a small red and black room.

"Animal I Have Become"

I can't escape this hell
So many times I've tried
But I'm still caged inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself

So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
(This animal, this animal)

I can't escape myself
(I can't escape myself)
So many times i've lied
(So many times i've lied)
But there's still rage inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself

So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal

Somebody help me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
Somebody wake me from this nightmare
I can't escape this hell

(This animal, this animal, this animal, this animal, this animal, this animal, this animal)

So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
(This animal I have become)

Linkin Park - A Place For My Head

Song: A Place For My Head
Artist: Linkin Park
Album: Hybrid Theory

Linkin Park is an American rock band from California.

The song A Place For My Head is from Linkin Park's 2000 debut album, Hybrid Theory. I think the song is about someone who does things for people out of greed. Just to get things in return. Someone who does something for someone and then acts like they owe him/her a lot. The song is from the point of view of someone who is saying they don't have the time or energy to deal with that person's shit and they're better off without them. This song, like most Linkin Park songs, is a mixture of Chester Bennington's singing and Mike Shinoda's rapping. I've said it before and I'll say it again, their voices work really well together. I love this song.

"A Place For My Head"

I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
The sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming
The moon’s going to owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do favors and then rapidly
You just turn around and start asking me
about things that you want back from me

[Chorus (x2):]
I’m sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place, to feed your greed -
While I find a place to rest

I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
(You’ll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head
Maybe someday I’ll be just like you
and step on people like you do and
Run away the people I thought I knew
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm, used to be strong
Used to be generous but you should’ve known
That you’d wear out your welcome
now you see how quiet it is, all alone

[Chorus (x2)]

[8x]
Go away
You try to take the best of me

I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
(You'll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

Shut up....what!

[Chorus (x2)]

Buckcherry - Sorry

Song: Sorry
Artist: Buckcherry
Album: 15

Buckcherry is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California.

The song Sorry is from Buckcherry's third studio album 15. The album was released in April of 2006. Sorry was released as the album's fifth single. The song is clearly about someone apologizing for past problems in a relationship. The singer is saying that he loves the person he's singing about and that he's sorry for things he has done. I heard that Buckcherry lead singer Josh Todd wrote the song for his wife. The song opens softly with guitar, and then Josh starts to sing. Josh Todd has a really good voice for rock. The lyrics are well written and the music is good. Overall a really good song.

"Sorry"

Oh I had a lot to say was thinking on my time away
I missed you and things weren't the same

Cause everything inside it never comes out right
And when I see you cry it makes me want to die

I'm sorry I'm bad, I'm sorry you're blue, I'm sorry about all things I said to you
And I know I can't take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds, and baby the way you make my world go round
And I just wanted to say I'm sorry:

This time I think I'm to blame it's harder to get through the days
You get older and blame turns to shame

Cause everything inside it never comes out right
And when I see you cry it makes me want to die

I'm sorry I'm bad, I'm sorry you're blue, I'm sorry about all things I said to you
And I know I can't take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds, and baby the way you make my world go round
And I just wanted to say I'm sorry:

Every single day I think about how we came all this way
The sleepless nights and the tears you cried it's never too late to make it right
Oh yeah sorry!

I'm sorry I'm bad, I'm sorry you're blue, I'm sorry about all things I said to you
And I know I can't take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds, and baby the way you make my world go round
And I just wanted to say I'm sorry:

Alter Bridge - Rise Today

Song: Rise Today
Artist: Alter Bridge
Album: Blackbird

Alter Bridge is an American rock band from Florida.

Rise Today is the first single from Alter Bridge's second studio album, Blackbird, released in October of 2007. I think the song Rise Today is about looking at the world and questioning all the bad shit that's happening. And saying that you want to change it. Questioning if your enemy is really your enemy, or if things were misunderstood. I think it's also about seeing how messed up humanity is, and asking if we'll ever change, and saying that we need to change. I love the lyric "Seems to me that we've got each other wrong/Was the enemy just your brother all along?" Lead vocalist Myles Kennedy's voice is really good, and very distinctive. The reason I got into Alter Bridge was because I heard Myles Kennedy sing the song Back From Cali on Slash's self titled solo album. I liked his voice and decided to check out Myles' own band. This is a really good song.

"Rise Today"

The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

Feels like we're all alone
Running further from what's right
And there are no more heroes to follow

So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?

[Chorus:]
Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
Oh, won't you rise today
And change this world?

The sun is beating down
Are we ever gonna change
Can we stop the blood from running?

Our time is running out
Hope we find a better way
Before we find we're left with nothing

For every life that's taken
So much love is wasted

[Chorus:]
Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
So won't you rise today
And change

This world
Only love can set it right
This world
If only peace would never die

Seems to me that we've got each other wrong
Was the enemy just your brother all along?

[Chorus:]
Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
Oh won't you rise today
And change this world?

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Pearl Jam - Jeremy

Song: Jeremy
Artist: Pearl Jam
Album: Ten

Pearl Jam is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington.

Jeremy is the third single from Pearl Jam's 1991 debut album Ten. Lead vocalist Eddie Vedder got his inspiration for the song primarily from an article about a boy named Jeremy who commited suicide by shooting himself in front of his english class. I think the song is about how some people bully and abuse other people until they break them down, about the damage caused by abusive families and peers. And also about how killing yourself does nothing to fix this. By doing that you're just dead and there's no point to that. It reminds me of the saying "living well is the best revenge". The music video for the song shows scenes of Jeremy's life alternately with scenes of Eddie Vedder singing, and ends with Jeremy shooting himself in class and his classmates frozen with blood splattered on their clothing. I really like the bass in this song, and Eddie Vedder's voice is really good. Jeremy is a great song.

"Jeremy"

At home
Drawing pictures
Of mountain tops
With him on top
Lemon yellow sun
Arms raised in a V
Dead lay in pools of maroon below

Daddy didn't give attention
To the fact that mommy didn't care
King Jeremy the wicked
Ruled his world

Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today

Clearly I remember
Pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
But we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth
And bit the recess lady's breast

How could I forget
He hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurting
Dropped wide open
Just like the day
Like the day I heard

Daddy didn't give affection
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear
King Jeremy the wicked
Ruled his world

Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Try to forget this...
Try to erase this...
From the blackboard.

Rise Against - Survivor Guilt

Song: Survivor Guilt
Artist: Rise Against
Album: Endgame

Rise Against is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois.

Survivor Guilt is from Rise Against's sixth studio album, Endgame, which was released on March 15 2011. The beginning of the song features this clip from the 1970 film Catch 22. "What are you talking about? America isn't going to be destroyed."

"Never? Rome was destroyed, Greece was destroyed, Persia was destroyed, Spain was destroyed. All great countries are destroyed. Why not yours? How much longer do you really think your own country will last? Forever?"

The song is an anti-war song. I think it's about soldiers going off and dying for someone else's battle. I think it might also be about how the government doesn't do what it should to help soldiers who've been injured and the families of soldiers who've been killed. About giving all you have for something that wasn't worth the price. I think it's about how war is pointless, and not the way to solve anything. And about how most wars are started for very stupid reasons. How the people in charge are hypocrites who care more about money than a human life. People tell their children that fighting isn't the way to solve problems, yet look at the world. There is another clip from the same film in the middle of the song. "You're a shameful opportunist! What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees."

"You have it backwards. It's better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. I know."
I really love this song. I like the lyrics, the message and the music.

"Survivor Guilt"

Block the entrances, close the doors
Seal the exits because this is war

All gave some, some gave all
But for what I wanna know

Carry on, don't mind me
All I gave was everything
And yet you ask me for more
Fought your fight
Bought your lies
In return I lost my life
What purpose does this serve?

A folded flag
A purple heart
A family all but torn apart

And I fought with courage to preserve
Not my way of life but yours

Carry on, don't mind me
All I gave was everything
And yet you ask me for more
Fought your fight
Bought your light
In return I lost my life
What purpose does this serve?

The cowards preach on pedestals
With words of courage and resolve
But what they meant was fuck them all
Because freedom isn't free

They send our daughters and our sons
To deserts under burning suns
A Sacrificial slaughtering
To fill the pockets of the weak

An artificial enemy
Are we so easily deceived?
They carry on

Don't carry on
Just walk away
How many more sent to their graves
In this lesson ignored?

I fought your fight
Bought your lie
In return I lost my life
What purpose does this serve?
What purpose did I serve?
